Kansas City fell short in a rally from a 7-3 deficit, losing to the Chicago Cubs 7-6 on Saturday. MJ Melendez got the Royals on the board with a three-run blast in the third inning and Cam Devanney added a two-run homer in the fifth. Jordan Lyles took the loss, allowing five runs in three innings.
Left-hander Cole Ragans has surrendered four runs and struck out 10 in 8.2 innings this spring and gets the start Sunday for the Royals. Taylor Clarke gets his first start after two relief outings for Milwaukee. He's given up two runs in four innings so far in Arizona.
